It is not too early to start making plans to attend the DSD Judging School scheduled for May 16-18, 2008 in Bainbridge, GA. If you have been thinking about becoming a judge, need to audit to keep your accreditation current, want to improve your exhibiting skills or just want to join in the fun, please consider attending the school in Bainbridge. On Friday morning, May 16, the Judging School for Arrangements begins in the cafeteria on the Bainbridge College campus. Friday evening we all gather in the beautiful garden of Reuben and Oline Reynolds for our traditional catfish and chicken buffet. If you register for the school, the buffet meal is included in your registration, but if you bring a guest, please add $14 to your check to cover the cost of the catered meal. The Horticultural Judging School starts at 8:30 am on Saturday at the college cafeteria. The school includes lectures, discussion groups and classroom hands-on instruction with all different types of roses. Lunch on the grounds will be furnished and is included in the registration fee. For those wanting to take the arrangements examination, the horticultural examination or both, they will be given Sunday morning in the college cafeteria. You must submit your application for appointment as an apprentice horticultural judge to me on or before April 4, 2008 to give us time to verify your qualifications with the ARS. Among other qualifications, you must have been a member of the ARS for 36 consecutive months immediately before the application is submitted.
